After parking, a man with the appearance of a skinhead walked toward me. He smiled and asked: “Are you the locksmith?” It turned out someone had broken a key in a lock, and he was waiting for a repair. He was very generous and allowed me to take some photographs that would otherwise not have been possible.

It was designed by architect Ernst von Ihne and was the fourth museum to be built as part of Berlin’s Museum Island on the Spree. Originally completed in 1904 the building was badly damaged in the Second World War and had to undergo several stages of restoration. Trees like these can grow as high as 50 meters and are incredibly important for the diverse nature of their habitat. The wood of this tree was worth roughly 23.000 Euro on the European market while the stump is useless to the seller and usually will be left alone in the remaining parts of the forest.
